The stories of women in family histories are often overlooked or marginalised. Historical records, compiled by men, tend to focus on male figures, overlooking or minimising the contributions and experiences of women. This can lead to an incomplete or skewed understanding of our family history. It is important that we celebrate the contributions of our Hansen women.
The first of these stories, compiled by Janet Hansen, granddaughter of Blanche Hansen, demonstrates the resilience and agency of women in diverse situations.
