Hans Soerensen's farm
Hans Soerensen made a living as a smallholder and tailor. Before 1834 the economic situation for the family had improved and Hans Soerensen became a farmer, still in Borre village.
In 1834, the family lived on the farm, and there were 4 children at home at this time, Hans, Soeren, Ane and Maren. The eldest son, Hans, was also working as a tailor besides helping out of the farm. In 1840, only three of the children lived at home, Hans, Ane and Maren.
The situation was not much changed in 1845, except it was also now possible to have one servant on the farm, Peder Christensen. Hans Sorensen and Karen were now around 70 years old, and as it was custom the farm was passed on to the next generation. The daughter Maren had married Christen Pedersen, and the daughter and son-in-law took over the farm in Borre while her parents continued to live on the farm on a material pension.
This was the situation in 1850 – and now also the brother-in-law of Christen Pedersen, Soeren Hansen had a room on the farm.
Karen Hansdatter died April 28, 1854, on the farm in Borre, Aal parish, 70 years old, and she was buried in Aal. A few years later, Hans Soerensen died September 8, 1858, on the farm in Borre, Aal parish, 80 years old.

The farm has been located as farm on land number 7 in Borre Village, Aal parish. The following map shows the farm as it situated in Borre around 1845. Today, the farm has the address Vigtoftvej 16, Borre.
The current buildings are not dating back to the time when Hans Soerensen lived on the farm. The oldest building on the farm today was built around 1890.
